Alexander Jastrzembski Obituary

Alexander Andrew Jastrzembski died October 3, 2023, at his home at the Watermark at East Hill in Southbury, CT. Alexander was born March 29, 1935, in Salem Massachusetts. His parents were Petra (Peter) Jastrzembski (1888-1965) and Stanislawa (Stasia) Malik, (1893-1951) from Lomza, Poland. He was the last surviving of his siblings, Jane, Chester, Stanislaw, Bernard, Louis, Kasimir, and Richard.

Alexander was married in 1959 to his beloved wife Rose G. Maroselli Jastrzembski, who proceeded him in death by 23 years. They had four children: John, Christopher, Stasia, and Julie. Alexander was proud that his four children were the first generation of the family to attend college. He proclaimed that he was doubly blessed when all four children married wonderful spouses Patrice (Boyle), Kathleen (Lynch), Michael Wieber, and Anthony Cicileo (and consequently thirteen grandchildren: Adam, Jacob and Janae Jastrzembski; Meghan, Stephen, Joseph and Julia Jastrzembski; Ryan and Quinn Wieber; Christina (John Delgado-McCollum) Francesca (Wesley Cox), Gianna, and Anthony Cicileo).

After serving in the US Army at Fort Eustis, VA, Alexander began a long career with Pan American Airlines as an aviation mechanic. He traveled internationally to fix aircraft mechanical problems, until being permanently stationed at JFK airport.

Alexander was a devoted Christian and a 60-year member of St. Fidelis Parish in College Point, NYC. He revered the Trinity, relished his prayer time, and gave himself to Jesus. He loved attending Mass, receiving Holy Communion, and reading daily scripture and devotions.

Alexander enjoyed engaging in pleasant conversation and loved to interact with everyone he met. Throughout his life, Alexander was devoted to "one hobby at a time", with each one lasting about a decade. His passions included flying his plane, figure skating, marathon running, race-walking, designing and creating stained glass, ballroom dancing, and traveling.

Through a reputable home care agency, a kind man named Sam was placed as Alexander’s home mate and 24-hour caregiver. Alexander and Sam spent their days listening to gospel music, watching sermons on TV, and in prayer. Their connection was divinely inspired and a blessing to the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to help subsidize Sam’s trip home to his family in Africa to be with his wife and children for Christmas.
