It is with profound sadness and unimaginably heavy hearts that we announce the tragic passing of Andrew Zachary Meola, beloved husband, father, and son, who peacefully departed from this world at the young age of 36 on July 10 th , 2024, while surrounded by his family. Andrew’s short, but beautiful, journey through life was marked by his kindness, strength, and lighthearted nature that made him adored and beloved by all who knew him. Andrew was born in Manhattan, NY on February 28 th , 1988 and spent his childhood in Brooklyn, NY under the loving care of his parents Victor and Margaret (Palomba) Meola. The way he lived was a testament to the values they instilled in him: a generous and gracious heart, a thoughtful intelligence beyond compare, and a special respect for family and faith. He attended St. Bernadette Catholic Academy and graduated from Xavarian High School, not only as the valedictorian of his class, but more importantly in the company of many great and lifelong friends he made there. While growing up in New York City, he also became a passionate, die-hard fan of all NY sports, and his allegiances were clear: Yankees, Giants, Rangers, and Knicks (in that order, according to him). As he pursued his love for sports and his talent for writing, Andrew attended Syracuse University and received a Bachelor of Science in Journalism degree from the prestigious S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. He wrote for the Daily Orange newspaper, and excelled at pouring his skilled way with words into game analysis and editorial coverage, which served him well into his long career in both journalism and content marketing. Just a few weeks before graduating from Syracuse, Andrew’s life changed forever when he met his soulmate and wife Katelyn (Cozzi) Meola, a moment which defined both of their lives forward. The two spent almost 15 beautiful years together, having incredible adventures
around the world, sharing many a bowl of pasta with a bottle of red wine, holding each other closely in a loving and beautiful partnership, and dreaming of a long and full life together. In the years that followed their marriage at Old St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Andrew and Katelyn made their biggest dream come true, welcoming two beautiful children, Cassidy Rose Meola (Age 3) and Cameron James Meola (Age 1) into the world. Andrew’s children were the absolute light of his life, and he was a remarkable, compassionate, and gentle husband and father. He loved his kids immensely during the short time he had with them, and he beamed with pride as he watched his daughter Cassidy perform in her first ballet recital, and as he got to bring his son Cameron to his first Yankee game, passing along his love of sports. His legacy will live on in his family in so many ways, and they will carry him in their hearts forever. As Andrew enters his eternal rest, his entire surviving family is comforted in knowing that he is in a special place, listening to Billy Joel and Pearl Jam, rooting on (or making spirited remarks about) the performance of his favorite teams, quoting his favorite shows, and continuing to look after his adored wife and children that he cherished and loved with every ounce of his being. The world will forever be a better place because Andrew Meola was in it, touching the lives of so many along the way, and bringing a warm smile and laughter wherever he went.
