After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Anthony Rauso (Tony), age 70, of Ossining, NY and formerly Yonkers, NY, died Monday, December 27, 2021 at Westchester Medical Center with his loving wife Michelle (Shelley) by his side.
Tony was born January 23, 1951 in Yonkers, New York to Angela Cappelli and Andrew Rauso, who preceded him in death, along with his beloved son, Andrew Michael. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Jennifer (Matthew) Bernas, his grandchildren Liam, Lex, and Mackenzie of Cochecton NY, and his daughter Abby Larsen of Interlachen FL, as well as his stepchildren, Shaun (Megan) Gluss and their children Gemma and Benny, and Sarah (Christopher) Petersen. He is also survived by his siblings: Patricia Rich, Andrea Rauso (Larry) Eckerle, Christopher (Sheryl) Cappelli, Raymond (Lisa) Rauso, Adrian Cappelli, Randy (Lisa) Rauso, Lisa Cappelli, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
After graduating from Roosevelt High School in Yonkers in 1969 Tony enlisted in the United States Air Force where he proudly served a tour of duty in Vietnam and was later stationed at the Aviano Air Force Base in Italy where he served as Sergeant with the security police.
The majority of his life was spent in a variety of professions, including the United States Postal Service, Homeland Security, and most recently Fordham Hill Owners' Corporation where he retired as Director of Security.
Tony was an avid sports fan and an enthusiastic golfer. He was also proud of his participation on the football and baseball teams at Roosevelt High School.
Tony was well loved and respected by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations to St Judes Children's Hospital will be greatly appreciated.
Family and friends are invited to Pleasant Manor Funeral Home, Inc. 575 Columbus Avenue Thornwood, New York 10594 on Thursday, December 30, 2021 from 2:00 - 6:00 PM for visitation. The United States Air Force Honor Guard will be present for military honors during the visitation to commemorate Anthony's dedication to his country at 3:30 PM.
