Anthony Rotunno

Anthony Rotunno of Hawthorne, New York passed away with his family by his side at Rosary Hill Home in Hawthorne on Tuesday, February 25, 2020.

Anthony Rotunno was born in the Bronx, NY on March 29, 1958 to two loving parents, Joseph and Teresa, and an older sister, Teresa. Throughout his childhood, he was a competitive athlete, and his passion for sports and the borough in which he was born and raised, carried over into his adult life. Anthony was a dedicated coach and an accomplished educator in the Bronx for over 30 years. Over the course of those years, he led numerous football and baseball teams to city championships — after winning one in June 1997, he carried his then one-year-old son for a celebratory lap around the bases at Shea Stadium.  He was a voracious NY Mets and NY Giants fan, through the good and the bad!

Anthony married Lisa Jo (Carfora) on November 10, 1984. Together, they grew their family – something that Anthony was overwhelmingly proud of. Anthony was a family man and loved nothing more than spending time with his wife and children, Samantha, Jacqueline, Thomas and Anthony Jay.  He adored his sister and brother-in-law, his cousins, aunts and uncles, and his wife’s siblings and their spouses. He was infinitely proud of his son-in-laws, future daughter-in-law, and all of his nieces and nephews.  Anthony maintained a tight circle of friends, many of which he had forged strong relationships with since his childhood in the Bronx, a testament to the love and commitment he displayed in all areas of his life.  Most recently, Anthony became a grandfather which was a role that came naturally to him.

Anthony was, among many other things, an infinitely loved husband, father, friend, coach, teacher and mentor.  He will be greatly missed, but always fondly thought of. 

Family and friends are invited to Pleasant Manor Funeral Home, Inc. 575 Columbus Avenue Thornwood, New York 10594 on Friday, February 28, 2020 from 2:00 - 8:00 PM for visitation.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Anthony at Holy Rosary Church in Hawthorne on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 9:45 AM.  Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, New York.
