Barbara Lorraine Colombo, 85, died peacefully from complications from cancer on October 16th in White Plains, NY, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 19, 1939, in Bronx, NY.
Beloved Mother of Patricia (Dario) Campanile, Diane (Bill) Bradsell, and Barbara Colombo. Loving Sister to Judy Paletta and Nancy (Joseph Gilbert) Follini.
Proud Grandmother to Lindsay (Cody) Braven, Alex (Michael) Rubertone, Hannah (Alyssa Rainey) Bradsell, Charlotte Bradsell, Maya Luna Colombo Hamilton, and Great Grandmother to Finley Braven.
She is predeceased by her parents, George and Nilda Follini , and her longtime partner of 25 years, Christopher Horne.
Barbara Colombo was a dedicated and seasoned world traveler with over 50 years in the travel industry. Aside from starting her own agency, Travelogue in Tuckahoe and working with ProTravel in White Plains, she was a long-time member and former President of AWTA - the Alliance of Westchester Travel Agencies. Barbara also served on the Board of Directors and was a former President for the New York City Chapter of ASTA - the American Society of Travel Advisors. Other organizations include 41-74, an association of dynamic professional women engaged in all aspects of the travel industry in New York City, and the New York City Chapter of SKAL, an International Travel Organization.
Barbara is remembered by her loving and passionate spirit, her zest for life, and endless care and compassion for her loved ones. Her bright and inspired spirit leaves a lasting impact through her acts of kindness and thoughtfulness to all of those she touched throughout her lifetime. She was a real force of nature!
She loved her many friends and family so very much and was always the first to call for happy hour, enjoy a glass (or two) of scotch, beat you at a game of spite and malice, and win a spin on the slots. She valued her time with family and friends as the life of the party at celebratory occasions such as the Fourth of July at her beloved beach house in Milford, CT, and Christmas festivities at her home in White Plains. Barbara's passion for those dear to her, desire to travel the world, fabulous sense of fashion and keen eye for shopping, love for mani pedis and frequent visits to the beauty parlor gave her a vibrancy that was hard to beat.
We are incredibly blessed and filled with utmost gratitude to have been graced with her beautiful soul. Barbara’s legacy will carry on for an eternity through future generations and the treasured memories of her life will remain forever in our hearts.
She is truly “Unforgettable”.
