Chihwei Yen Obituary

Chihwei Sharon Yen of Somers passed away in the comfort of her home on Saturday, May 23, 2020 in her 57th year.

May 23, 2020 -- Chihwei Sharon Yen, a resident of Somers, NY, died after an intense fight with
Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. She is survived by her husband Li-Hsien; her son Sean and his wife
Milijana; her daughter Linda; and her brother Chi-En.
Sharon was born on May 4, 1963 in Taipei, Taiwan, to the late Ray Chuan and Li Ming Yen. On
July 16, 1989, she was married to Li-Hsien at Taipei Ling Liang Church in Taipei. She worked at
a trading company in Taiwan for a short period of time as a trading assistant, then worked at
Glory Publisher as an accountant. Later, she worked at an aircraft maintenance company as a
secretary. Afterwards, she and her family settled down along the East Coast in the U.S.
Since she became a born-again Christian in Wesley Girls High School in Taiwan, Sharon had a
passion for being a witness for Christ. Because of her mother’s tragic death, she decided to
devote her time to her children and family. She also served as a school class mother, Cub Scout
den leader, church Sunday School teacher, deacon, and led a women’s Bible Study group.
In lieu of sending flowers, the family has asked that you please consider donations being made to the Great Commission
Fund and sent to the Chinese Alliance Church of Westchester in Port Chester, New York, or to the
Salvation Army.

Private family funeral services will be held at Pleasant Manor Funeral Home, Inc. 575 Columbus Avenue Thornwood, New York 10594 on Thursday, June 4, 2020, entombment Ferncliff Cemetery: Hartsdale, New York.
