On October 4th, 2021, Dale Irene (Hill) Menna unexpectedly passed away. Dale’s kind spirit, free as a bird her whole life, flew right into the arms of an angel. Born a premature Christmas miracle baby on December 24, 1949, she was adopted by the late Thomas E. and Dorothy Hill of Greenwood, South Carolina. She grew up with and is survived by her sisters Kathy (Joe) Snyder and Lisa Colmorgan.
Dale was vivacious and spirited, but also a humble person who left a positive impression on everyone she encountered. Dale loved everyone she ever met, she loved life, loved her children, and lived solely for the company of her three children and five grandsons. Dale did not care about material things, and she treated everyone the same, regardless of the size of your home, your profession or your bank account. Dale made you feel great when you succeeded, and even better when you failed. Dale had a terrific sense of humor and the sweetest Southern accent you’ve ever heard. To say she will be missed is an understatement.
She graduated from University of South Carolina with a Bachelor’s of Science degree and later completed her nursing studies at Saint Joseph’s nursing school, after which she effortlessly cared for the geriatric population for most of her career - spanning over 40 years. It was at USC where Dale met her first husband, Bob Ermini, and after moving north, they had Francesca Kathryn – (Jeff) Demers and Tara Carolina (Keith) Foisset. Later, Dale married Johnny Menna and together they had Joseph Brett Menna.
Dale spent her most recent years being around her family – attending sports games, school plays, concerts, graduation parties and beach vacations. She was passionate about exercising, music, and helping others in any way she could – from doing laundry, cleaning and organizing, consulting on nursing questions, or just making someone’s day by sending a heart-felt note. When thinking of Dale, one cannot help but smile. When thinking of her legacy and those left behind without her, it’s hard not to cry. Heaven rejoiced, but Dale’s friends and family on earth will miss her heartily.
Dale is survived by her husband Johnny Menna of Brookfield, son Joseph Menna of Bethel, daughter Francesca (Jeff) Demers of Bethel, daughter Tara (Keith) Foisset of Valhalla, sister Kathy (Joe) Snyder of South Carolina, sister Lisa Colmorgan of South Carolina, and her adored and most beloved grandsons Jack Owen, Keith Edwin Jr., Robert Francis, Luke Jack and Brendan Tyler. Dale never knew a stranger, and the friends she met in her well-lived life are too numerous to list here, though her closest circle of friends included childhood best friend Barbara Ayscue, as well as Eileen Altland and Holly Bukofser. Dale will also be missed by her extended family, including Bob Ermini, Thomas R. Ermini, Thomas W. (Elena) Ermini, Laura Ermini, Robert B. (Brittany) Ermini, Krista (Kevin) Gedney, Marie Menna (Doug) Doescher, Frank Simonetti, Letitia Foisset, Angela (Chris) Nixon, Alex (Janey) Colmorgan and Kristy Millard.
