David Carroll Fletcher

Dr. David C. Fletcher of Brevard, NC died in his home in Mount Vernon, NY on Sept 12, 2022.David was a Professor of Graduate and Undergraduate Education at Lehman College, City University of New York, for 37 years. Dr. Fletcher received his PhD. From NYU in 1992 He was deeply committed to social justice and the connection between educators and the communities in which they taught and was himself active in many community – school collaborative efforts over his long career. Although he lived in NY, Dr. Fletcher had strong family roots in Brevard, North Carolina and never lost his accent, to the delight and sometimes confusion of his students. He is survived by sisters Sharon Fletcher Kirby of Marietta, Ga, Laura Fletcher Cassell of Marietta, SC, brother Jerry Fletcher of Brevard, NC and preceded in death by his parents Carroll and Sally Fletcher, brother Richard Fletcher and sister Kathy Fletcher. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many close friends and colleagues.
