Dennis J. Larkin Sr.

Dennis J. Larkin Sr. of Ossining passed away in the comfort of his home surrounded by loving family on Saturday evening, April 30, 2022.

It is with a deep sense of sadness and regret that we must report to you the passing of our 53-year Retired Member Brother Dennis J. Larkin Sr. on April 30, 2022. Brother Larkin was an Honorary Gold Card Recipient, Past Trustee, Vice-President and President of Local One, I.A.T.S.E. He was born on November 17, 1943 and initiated into Local One on June 26, 1969. Dennis was an avid New York Ranger and New York Yankee fan. He was also the Captain of the Manhattan Indians Stagehand Hockey Club and one of the dirtiest players on the ice. He was the Co-Chair of the IATSE Safety Committee, as a Yankee Season Ticket holder he was asked his advice on the needs of the Handicapped for the new Stadium. Dennis enjoyed attending the 50-year luncheons and when possible always voted in the Local One elections. Dennis is also responsible for the higher pay rates for Vari-Lite operators. He worked throughout the jurisdiction and was the Property Master at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. His career was cut short on a tragic fall at Radio City Music Hall on December 21, 1995, where he became a quadriplegic for the past 26 ½ years. Dennis’ strength and courage should be an inspiration to us all, after the accident he would always sign off a conversation by saying “work safe”
Each year all that could attend were invited to a barbeque at his house. It was a time when the same stories were told and the laughs kept coming. Brother Dennis was also pre-deceased by his grandfather Local One brother Joseph Mangello, his father Local One Brother Harold Larkin II, his brother Local One Brother Harold Larkin, III, his mother Eleanor Jordan, and his father-in law Local One Brother Howard Tekulsky. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Audrey, his son Dennis J. Larkin Jr. his daughters Mary Larkin (Timmons), Cheryl Larkin (Cahill), Kathleen Larkin (Palazzo) and Kimberly Gordon. His grandchildren Shelby Timmons, T.J, Isabella and Nicholas Palazzo, Victoria and Samantha Gordan and Neena Cahill. His nephew Local One Brother Harold Larkin the IV and his Great nephew Local One Brother Harold Larkin the V. Brother Dennis will be missed by family and friends alike. May his soul Rest in Peace.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 13, 2022 from 10:00 - 12:00 PM.
