Donald Harder Obituary

Don Harder, of Waccabuc New York, died peacefully on Thursday, September 23rd at
White Plains Hospital. He was 71 years old and had been battling cancer since February.
He spent the weeks prior to his passing surrounded by his family and music, his two
great loves.
Don was born on August 28th, 1950 in Brooklyn, NY and grew up in Queens. He
attended City College of New York and graduated in 1971 with a degree in computer
science. His work brought him to several companies including Ernst and Young where he
was a partner and EMI Music where he was CIO and Senior Vice President. He co-
founded Arc partners in 1996 and later went on to work for the Dalio Family Office.
His love of music started early and he played in bands throughout his teens. At 15, Don’s
bandmate introduced him to his sister Terry whom he courted with long phone
conversations and rock and roll concerts. The two married in 1972 and were married for
49 years. They had two sons, Christian and Nicholas, whom Don was fiercely proud of
and protective over. Don was committed to supporting music and the arts and he always
led the standing ovations at the Westchester Oratorio Society’s concerts.
Don was kind. He was a good listener and a straight shooter. He was curious, observant,
and smart. He was an avid reader, lover of maps, and he appreciated a 5 course meal or
a good burger as long as the company and the wine were good. He dedicated his life to
providing for his family.
He is survived by his wife, Terry Harder and two sons, Nicholas and Christian and
partner Hannah, his sister Debbie, loving relatives, and countless friends whom he
considered family.
