Obituary

Henry “Eliot” Subin known to many as “Pop-Pop,” residing in Hawthorne, NY, passed away Saturday July 22, 2023 at the age of 77. Born in Manhattan on November 26,, 1945, Eliot grew up in Teaneck-New Jersey, Miami-Florida and Manhattan-New York. After which Eliot then moved and raised his family in Westchester County for most of his life.

Eliot graduated from the University of Miami (class of ’69), which he fondly called “Suntan U,” with a degree in business administration. He played on the baseball team at the insistence and guidance of his HS Coach, the legendary Skip Bertman(LSU/Team USA) at Miami Beach HS. He never missed an opportunity to mention that his grandkids inherited their baseball genes from him. Eliot loved University of Miami Football and would follow daily.

Over a long and active professional career Eliot was proud to be “the boss” and wore the moniker entrepreneur proudly. He founded and was involved in businesses that ranged from real estate development, to being on the forefront of the internet content boom, he was a principal and an investor on many deals,be it golf driving ranges or restaurants. Eliot loved his work; he loved the action and was a self-admitted “deal junkie.”

For those that knew Eliot, he was a cult-hero, a rock star, a charismatic man who could have a conversation with anyone and offered wisdom for the masses. He lived life on his terms and kept his own counsel. A person always knew where they stood with Eliot.

Eliot’s passions included playing golf, cooking and more so eating, watching both sports and politics and arguing about them as well; Brewster Crush Baseball, BYF football and anything his grandsons were involved in.

He loved nothing more in this world than his 4 grandchildren which were his joy, his pride and his reason.

Eliot is survived by his two son’s Joshua (Creisa) and Michael (Breanne), his daughter Jessica and his grandson’s Michael, Jeremy, George, and Edward. Eliot is preceded in death by his father Ira, mother Natalie and wife Victoria.
