Evelyn Cecile Klein passed away on Thursday, September 14 in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York. Born on November 5, 1921 to Augusta and Barney Kirschstein, Evelyn had been residing in Westchester County. Evelyn was 101 years young when she passed away. She loved her family, her friends, classical music and her life-long hobby of painting. She shared her happiness, optimism and passion with anyone she met. There are not enough words to describe the way she touched the lives of everyone who knew her, with her open heart and her warm, outgoing personality. Evelyn received a degree from Westchester Community College, and she spent several years working as a bereavement counselor. When she lived at the Atria Woodlands, she was made a "Welcoming Ambassador" and charmed everyone she met with her zest for life and youthful energy. Evelyn was predeceased by her loving husband of 48 years, Walter Klein, her parents, her brother Stanley Kirshstein, her sister Rhoda Komaroff and her grandchild Alissa Bloch. She is survived by her sister, Lela Somma, two daughters Laurie Bloch (Fred) and Ellen Cohen (Mark), four granddaughters: Julie (Sam), Jessica (David), Amy (John) and Joanna (Steven) and four great-grandchildren Sadie, Leo, Chelsea and Elliot.
