Giovina (Jean) M. Placidi (nee Bova) of Hawthorne passed away peacefully in her 95th year on Tuesday, September 29th 2020. Born February 10, 1925 to Anna (Chiaverini) & Joseph Bova in Yonkers, NY. Ms. Placidi was educated in Yonkers, attending School 18 and graduating from the High School of Commerce in 1942. She worked for the Municipal Housing Authority for the city of Yonkers, retiring in 1996 after serving for 17 years. She was a former member of the Knights of Columbus and worked for the organization during her high school years. A devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother as well as a wonderful Italian cook and lover of all sweets. Jean (better know as “Grammy”) is survived by her loving children, daughter Elizabeth “Betsy” Kis of Hawthorne and Donald (Diane) of Pennsylvania as well as her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Lisa Mamone (Chris) and son Zander Sala; Michelle Karol (Jason) and children Logan & Landon “Munchie”; Donald “Donny” (Megan) and children Dominic, Sienna, Roman & Sloane. Jean was predeceased by her parents, her sisters Louise Liberatori and Elizabeth “Betty” Gomez as well as her brother Joseph Bova. In remembrance of Giovina, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
A private family Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Holy Innocent's Church in Pleasantville on Wednesday, October 7, 2020. Private committal services will be held following the funeral mass.
