Joan Ann (Halliday) Schmidt

Joan Ann Schmidt 

August 25, 1938 ~ April 22, 2025 

At 86 years of age, the heart of our family was called to Heaven. Daughter of  Dolores and John Halliday. 

She will be sorely missed by the “love of her life” and husband of 66 years ~ Edward M Schmidt ; her 4 children: Christina (Schmidt) Murty; Susan (Schmidt) Funke; Edward A Schmidt (Lisa); Jeanne E Schmidt. Her 2 grandsons: Sean James Murty(Lisa); Edward Charles Schmidt. Her great granddaughter: Penelope Quinn Murty. Her sister: Diane Doxey. Nephew: Timothy McGill (Jean); Niece: Patricia Parent (Michael). 

Joan and Ed married September 13, 1958, raised 4 children and relocated 11 times including abroad to Mexico. She was the heart and drive for all of us to feel loved and at home wherever we lived. She had many friends throughout her life and remained close to her high school friends ~ Janet & Rita. She loved tennis, golf, gardening, bridge, embroidery and being part of her family. She was smart, funny, caring, empathic and loved to laugh. She is our “heartstring” that is sewn through the fabric of our family connecting us together forever. She will be forever Loved !
