Karen Wang Obituary

Karen Wang of New York City passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 8th, 2023. She was born on May 11, 1973 in Salinas, California, and spent the majority of her life in New York. She graduated from Stuyvesant High School and received her Bachelors from Cornell University. On March 29, 2003, Karen married her beloved husband, Hin-King of 20 years. Together, they raised their two wonderful children, Matthew and Emily.
Karen was a dedicated and accomplished woman who touched the lives of many. She enjoyed a long career in accounting and finance working in audit, in sell-side research and in investment management. For the past 20 years, she worked at Oaktree where she made many friends and impacted many lives. In addition to her full-time job, Karen was a fierce advocate for children’s education and served as the President of the Citywide Council of High Schools for the last three years. She tirelessly gave her time to the causes and people she cared about. She was deeply devoted to her family and friends and gave to them unconditionally. Her generosity, thoughtfulness and selflessness will be missed by all who know her.

 

Family and friends are invited to Pleasant Manor Funeral Home, Inc. 575 Columbus Avenue - Thornwood, New York 10594 on Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 3:00 - 7:00 PM for visitation.  Funeral services will be held at Pleasant Manor Funeral Home, Inc. 575 Columbus Avenue - Thornwood, New York 10594 on Friday, November 17, 2023 from 10:00 - 11:00AM.  Karen will be laid to rest in her family plot at The Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla following the funeral services on Friday at 11:30 AM.
