Lina Mule Obituary

Lina Mule (Carriglio) passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at the age of 91.

She was born to the late Domenico and Sebastiana Carriglio in Augusta, Sicily in 1932, the third of five children. She grew up in Italy during World War II and often told stories of their experiences during that time.

She married John Mule in Italy in 1965. A year later, theyimmigrated to the US while Lina was pregnant with her first child. She was the first in her family to travel outside of Italy. She came to the US not knowing any English and was amazed at the amount of snow when she arrived. The family settled in Mt Kisco, NY, where they raised 3 children.

Lina was an integral part in raising 8 grandchildren. The kids always looked forward to time with nonna, when she would teach them Italian, tell great stories from her youth, cook with them, play music and dance, or have a game of Scopa.

Lina was an amazing cook, and family and friends especially enjoyed her chicken cutlets, arancini, meatballs, linguine with clam sauce and so much more. She was also a very talented seamstress, made many of the clothes that her children wore, and helped many friends with any type of sewing project. She reupholstered couches, made drapes, and anything else you could imagine.

Lina will be remembered for her dedication to family and her selfless nature. She was kind and loving, and always had a cheerful smile, a kind word (and some delicious food) for family and friends alike. She had a low-key wit, and had many mischievous one-liners that would make you laugh.

Lina is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, John Mule; three loving children, Maria Falkenberg and her husband Christian, Diane Hart and her husband Bob and Frank Mule and his fiancé Jodi Hoyt; grandchildren Jonathan, Ally, Robert, Sophia, Carter, Daniella, Sarah and Maia; brother Domenico (Pippo); sister Pina and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Maria and Rosetta.

Family and friends are invited to Holy Rosary Church in Hawthorne on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 10:15 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial.  Lina will be laid to rest after the funeral mass at The Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla, New York.
