The Rocchio family mournfully announces the passing of Lisa B. Rocchio of Eastchester, New York.
Lisa was born in Gallo Matese, Italy in 1955. At 11 years old, she moved to the United States and settled with her family in the Bronx. She attended James Monroe High School and Lehman College. She proudly worked as a teaching assistant in kindergarten with children with special needs in the Bronx. She met her husband Pat and they were married in 1977. Together they had two children, Lisa and Anthony.
Lisa was known by all who met her for her kindness, generosity of spirit and her ability to make every single person in her life feel special. She adored her family and lived her life selflessly through all adversity and without complaint. She was known for her humor, her phenomenal taste in all things and her willingness and insistence upon sharing her blessings with all those around her. She never missed an opportunity to give a gift, make a call or pay a visit to those she loved. She was first to show up when things were difficult and she was present to share her boundless joy when there were moments to celebrate.
In 1999 Lisa lost her most precious gift, her son Anthony. While this was the most horrific of challenges, Lisa managed to be selfless even in this case. She gathered her strength and continued to live a productive life for her other precious gift, her daughter Lisa, and for her entire family.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren, Liana, Gemma and Matthew. They brought her endless pride. She was in constant awe of their unique talents and successes. True to her manner, she did not miss an occasion to shower them with love, home cooking and the simple backing of their nonna. She was always on their side.
Lisa was preceded in death by her son, Anthony and her siblings Giovanni, Maria, Rosa, Domenico, and is survived by her husband, Pat, her daughter Lisa (Frank), her grandchildren Liana, Gemma, Matthew, her sister, Caterina, and her brother Pietro. Lisa is survived by many nieces and nephews in the United States, Canada and Italy and innumerable friends that she made along the way.
