Mr. Lit Szeto of Flushing passed away peacefully on Friday, June 14, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. He grew up in China, during the difficult period of the Japanese invasion of China. His mother was the most important person in his life. He lived with his mother, wife and four children in Hong Kong for about 15years before moving to New York City. He was a kind and gentle father to his children. Although the family was never wealthy, his children never felt deprived of anything. Their childhood was filled with happy memories. This was the best gift that he gave to his children. To his grandchildren, he was a loving Gong Gong (grandpa).
Three years ago, Lit and his wife moved to Valhalla to live with their youngest daughter. He spent the last three years of his life under Maggie and Jonathan’sloving care. During the last week of his life before being admitted to the hospital, he was under the loving care of his daughter Rita and her husband who flew in from California.
During his last lucid moment, he expressed how content he was to have received such loving care from his children. He was able to say goodbye to most of his children and grandchildren via video chat. He was at peace and said he was ready to go home. He lived to a ripe old age of 95, under the loving care of his wife.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Yuet Shiu. His children are Kin, Winnie, Rita and Maggie. His grandchildren are Erica, Megan, Brandon, Bryant and Jonathan.
