Lucia Carlacci Obituary

Lucia Carlacci (nee Cortina) of Pleasantville passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026 in her 92nd year.  Lucia was born on December 13, 1933 in Ripi Frosinone, Italy to proud parents Enrico and Caterina Cortina (nee Recine).  Lucia was the beloved mother Sandro Carlacci (Maria Rosaria Lacarbonara) and Anna Duffy (nee Carlacci).  She was the cherished grandmother of Marco Carlacci (Sabrina Mesa), Daniela Hauck (David Hauck), Stefano Carlacci (Amanda Carlacci) and SarahAnn Duffy (Luis Herrera Albertazzi).  She was also blessed to be a great grandmother to Angela Hauck, Alessia Carlacci, Nicholas Hauck and Stefano Carlacci.  Lucia is survived by her siblings Yolanda Ferrante (Alvaro Ferrante), Michelina Ferrante and Albert Cortina. Also, her brother-in-law Augusto Fiorella and sister-in-law Fernanda Cortina as well as many nieces and nephews.   Lucia is predeceased by her loving siblings Livia Perciballi (Giovanni Perciballi), Felicia Imperioli (Lino Imperioli), Anna Fiorella, Benedetto Cortina (Emily Cortina), Raniero Cortina and Bina Recine (Domenico Recine).

Lucia was married to the love of her life, the late Raffaele Carlacci in January of 1955, they lived in the mountains of Ripi Frosinone where they started their family and then immigrated to the United States with their two children in 1966.  Prior to coming to America and living in rural Italy Lucia developed a love for gardening and making the thinnest homemade pasta, ciambelle and the lightest zeppoli.

Professionally, Lucia was a loved and well-respected nurse's aide, she gave her time, knowledge and dedication to the Sprain Brook Manor and the Jewish Guild for the Blind for over 30 years. She exemplified what is meant when people say that they treat their patients as their own family would be treated.  Lucia was a kind, loving woman who loved life and laughter.  Her strength inspired everyone blessed to know her.  Lucia found joy in knitting scarves for children in need and for her beloved family. She was a woman of great faith and was a devout Catholic, her most precious gift in life was her family.  Humble, selfless and generous are only a few of her best personality traits.  Her strength, love and unwavering care touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Riposa in pace, cara Lucia.

May the angels welcome you into paradise, where there is no sorrow,

only eternal light and peace.

Heaven has gained an angel whose love remains with us always.

Sempre nei nostri cuori.

Forever in our hearts.
