Maria Reda

Maria Reda of Valhalla, NY passed away in her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, May
19, 2020. She was born on August 9, 1937 in Mendocino, Cosenza, Italy. She is
predeceased by her parents, Luigi and Rosina Reda and her sister Elvira Reda. 
 
She is survived by her loving children, Carmela (Sal), Rosemarie, Linda (Dom) and her
son Frank. She leaves behind cherished memories to her beloved grandchildren, Sal
(Lauren), Jennifer, Robert, Cristina, Vincent, Victoria and Domenick and her great
granddaughter Nicolette, who always brought a smile to her face. 
 
She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, frequenting casinos, and the
thrill of scratch-off tickets. In her later years, she enjoyed helping her son and
exchanging banter at Capri Pizzeria, where she was known to regular patrons as
“Mama.”
She had a strong exterior that enclosed a sweet, caring heart. She was fiercely loyal to
her family and never held back her opinion. Her larger than life character exceeded her
petite stature. Her signature smirk and sarcastic charm will leave her family with endless
laughs and moments that will forever be remembered.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at Pleasant Manor Funeral Home,
Inc. 575 Columbus Avenue Thornwood, New York 10594.  A private entombment in her
family crypt at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, New York will follow on Wednesday,
May 27, 2020.
