Marie Elaine Castellone

Marie Castellone, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and niece passed away peacefully at home with her family.

Marie was surrounded by love throughout her life. She was full of laughter and had a rare gift to make everyone feel welcome. Her smile and spirit brought people together. She leaves behind memories that will be held close forever.

Marie is also survived by her son Richard Roessle and his wife Christina, her grandsons Richard and Alexander and her daughter Andrea Roessle.

Marie was a long-time resident of Hawthorne, NY. She was the daughter of Mary and Dominick Castellone and sister to Richard and his wife Patti, Aimee and her husband Charlie Burns and Debbie and her husband Michael Henault. 

Marie was also a beloved Aunt to two nephews Richard Castellone and Michael Henault and seven nieces, Tricia Forde, Danielle Bellina, Lisa Rushneck, Alexandria Henault and Jacqueline, Alexa and Amanda Burns.

Marie was born in Yonkers, NY. She attended Holy Rosary elementary school, Mary Immaculate high school and earned her college degree from Pace University. 

She began her professional journey at IBM, a path that eventually led her to an extraordinary career in law at Cravath, Swaine & Moore—one of the most prestigious law firms in the country. Her work took her around the world and placed her on remarkable cases, including matters involving the White House. She approached every opportunity with intelligence, confidence, and an unmistakable sense of purpose.

After many years of dedication and success, she surprised many by choosing a completely new direction, stepping into a leadership role managing the Bacardi & Company New York office. Yet the law was always close to her heart, and she ultimately returned to it, continuing her service at the White Plains Supreme Court.

Even retirement could not slow her down for long. True to who she was, she once again answered the call to serve, this time managing the office for the Holy Rosary Church Rectory—proudly following in our mother’s footsteps. In every chapter of her life, she brought grace, strength, and an unwavering commitment to those around her.

Marie touched many lives with her big heart and vibrant personality. She was the person that people gravitated towards wherever she was. We are so blessed to have her as part of our family, and she will forever hold a place in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations be made to the Holy Rosary Maintenance Fund in memory of Marie Castellone.

Family and friend are invited to Pleasant Manor Funeral Home, Inc. 575 Columbus Avenue - Thornwood, New York 10594 on Sunday, May 31, 2026 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM for visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Marie at Holy Rosary Church in Hawthorne on Monday, June 1, 2026 at 10:00 AM, officiated by Father Sebastian.  Marie will be laid to rest in her family plot at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne following the funeral mass.
