Mario Rubino passed away on January 7, 2026, at the age of 85, in the Bronx, New York, after a courageous battle. He is now reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife, Assunta, the love of his life and constant companion, whom he deeply missed following her passing on December 27, 2024.
Mario was born on September 1, 1940, in Spigno Saturnia, Italy, where he was known for his warm heart, strong values, and deep devotion to family. From a young age, he was hardworking, loyal, and devoted to those he loved. It was there that he met Assunta, whose family shared a close bond with his own, and together they formed a relationship rooted in friendship, respect, and enduring love.
In 1967, Mario immigrated to the Bronx, determined to build a better life. Shortly after Assunta arrived in the United States, Mario proposed and they married in March of 1969. Together, they built a loving home, raised a devoted family, and shared a lifetime of cherished memories.
Mario spent most of his working life in the produce department at A&P Food Emporium, where his kindness, strong work ethic, and warm personality made him a favorite among customers and colleagues alike.
A devoted husband to Assunta for 55 years, Mario was a proud father to Gabriella and Michael. He welcomed his son-in-law, Tony, and daughter-in-law, Nicole, as his own. His greatest joy was being “Nonno” to his three beloved grandsons, Ryan, Logan, and Joey.
Mario is survived by his sisters-in-law Ida, Martie, Rosa, Leonilde, and Franca; his brother-in-law Augusto; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Maria Assunta and Michele Rubino; his in-laws, Matilde and Luigi Tedesco; his brothers Pasquale and Silvio; his sisters-in-law Angela, Teresa, and Pasqualina; and his brothers-in-law Tomasso, Raffaele, Carlo, Domenico, and Franco.
Mario will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his strength, loyalty, selflessness, and unwavering devotion to his family. Though his absence leaves an immeasurable void, there is comfort in knowing he is once again with his beloved Assunta—reunited in love and peace for eternity.
