Martha (Tsoulos) Schenkel

Martha Schenkel of Hawthorne, New York passed away surrounded by her loving family at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, New York on the morning of Saturday, March 9, 2024. She was born in Greece on in 1937 to Demitrios and Ifigenia Tsoulos and was the beloved wife of the late Christopher Schenkel. Martha immigrated to New York City from Greece in 1960. She graduated from the Thorpe School of Business and moved to Astoria, Queens to work as an accountant in 1962. Later she and her husband relocated to Westchester County, New York where she enjoyed hosting family gatherings. She was an avid reader with a keen interest in history. Her vivid storytelling often included epic stories from ancient Greece as well as experiences from her own adventurous childhood.

Family and friends are invited to Our Savior Greek Orthodox Church in Rye on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at 9:15 AM for viewing.  Funeral services will follow at Our Savior after the viewing at 10:00 AM, Fr. George will officiate.  Martha will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband Chris in their family plot at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
