MICHAEL CIRCOSTA, P.E.
Michael (Mike) Circosta of Armonk, passed away on August 25, 2024 at the age of 77. Born July 9th, 1947 in Martone, province of Reggio Calabria to the late Nunziato and Maria Circosta. Mike came to the United States with his family at the age of seven and settled in Yonkers, NY, where many from his area were located. He quickly adapted to the American life and loved his new adopted country, while always maintaining his great pride in his Italian heritage, traditions, and friendships.
Mike met the great love of his life, Josephine Di Pietro and he married her on August 8, 1976. They were blessed with a 48 year marriage that was a true and lovable partnership. They enjoyed being together and were a great team.
Mike was a mechanical engineer and worked for the Department of Public Works of Westchester County for many years. He was an active volunteer for agencies of his profession, such as the ASHRAE Society and the Professional Engineering Society. He worked tirelessly for these professional agencies and always tried his best to elevate and promote them. His most loved hobby was playing golf. He loved nature and spent many hours of his free time outdoors doing gardening. Additionally, he was an avid photographer and often times considered to be the family picture taker.
Mike and his wife traveled extensively all over Europe as well as China and some Latin countries. Mike enjoyed exploring different cultures as well as different foods. During his travels, he was often captivated and fascinated to learn how our ancestors engineering and architectural skills contributed to today’s contemporary achievements, especially how they consistently improved people’s lives. He was an extraordinary person fully dedicated to his field and always respected and valued the creed of his profession. He led a simple, practical and full life. All who knew him marveled at his outgoing warmth, friendliness and positive attitude and was a role model whom his family appreciated and loved.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Josephine, his sister, Rosa Calvi, his brother, George Circosta (Gloria), his brother Rocco (Rosemary), brother-in-law Rigo DiPietro (Toni) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and brother-in-law, Gennaro Calvi.
