Nicholas A. DeVito of Brewster passed away in the comfort of his home on Monday, January 25, 2021 surrounded by loving family in his 84th year. He was the beloved husband of Edith (nee Sirico). Nicholas was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 8, 1936 to proud parents Dominic J. and Anna DeVito (nee Miele). Nicholas was a resident of Yonkers, New York for 30 years, was heavily involved in his community and was President of the Annunciation Mens Club. He was a proud and active member of I.B.E.W - Local 3. He also served as a Judge of Elections, Chairman of Crime Watch and a member of Fire and Police Departments, all in the Poconos. Additionally, Nick was a proud veteran of the United States Army in which he served honorably from 1960 - 1962 in Fort Niagra. He served as Sergeant-at-Arms with the American Legion Aragonne Post #71 and was a member of the Elks Lodge 2101 both in Brewster. But his biggest passion of all was being an avid train enthusiast. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Family and friends are invited to Pleasant Manor Funeral Home, Inc. 575 Columbus Avenue Thornwood, New York 10594 on Friday, January 29, 2021 from 2:00 - 6:00 PM for visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Nicholas at Holy Rosary Church in Hawthorne at 10:00 AM. Nicholas will be laid to rest at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne following the mass at Holy Rosary Church, in which the United States Army Honor Guard will be present to commemorate Nicholas's service to his country.
