Peter James Lockwood, of Thornwood, New York, passed away on October 9th, 2025.
Born and raised in Ardsley, NY, Peter graduated from Ardsley High School before beginning what would become a lifelong career in the lumber and building materials industry. As a teenager, he worked with his father, Howard, at Lockwood Lumber in Yonkers. Together they went on to own and manage King Lumber in Goldens Bridge, NY, where Peter was instrumental in building a thriving business. He was admired for his honesty, hard work, and generosity, and he took deep pride in his employees while earning the loyalty of countless customers who valued not only his expertise but his friendship.
Peter’s life was also defined by his many passions. He loved history and treasured time at the beach. He was a devoted car enthusiast, with a particular fondness for classics like Corvettes, GTOs, and even Chevelles, spending countless hours around cars as a beloved hobby. He enjoyed good food, simple pleasures, and the company of friends and family.
Fifteen years ago, Peter met the love of his life, Glaucimara Piazza (Mara). The two shared a beautiful relationship and were married for the past 10 years, building a life filled with joy and devotion. He was also the proud father of his cherished sons, Martin and Warren, who were his greatest pride and joy. Both boys joined Peter years ago working at King Lumber where they will continue building upon Peter's (and Howard's) legacy in the lumber business.
Peter is survived by his wife, Mara; his sons, Martin and Warren (Jessica Petrella); his brother, Michael Lockwood (Anne); and his sister, Suzanne Lockwood Yates. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Howard and Eve Lockwood, to whom he was a wonderful and devoted son.
Peter will be remembered as a man who worked tirelessly, cared deeply, and lived fully — leaving behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and strength that will be carried on by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, Peter’s family kindly suggests donations in his memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
