Rosalie, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was a dedicated and accomplished woman who touched the lives of many.
Rosalie began her journey in the healthcare profession by earning her RN degree from Saint Vincent's nursing school in 1954. Her passion for nursing drove her to further her education, and she obtained both bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing.
For decades, Rosalie's unwavering commitment to the care of others led her to a distinguished career. She retired as the director of Saint Joseph's nursing home in 1990, leaving behind a legacy of excellence in the field of nursing.
Rosalie was predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, John Schiel, with whom she shared a lifetime of cherished memories and experiences.
Rosalie is survived by her sister, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who will carry her spirit and legacy forward
Family and friends are invited to Pleasant Manor Funeral Home, Inc. 575 Columbus Avenue - Thornwood, New York 10594 on Monday, October 16, 2023 from 3:00 - 7:00 PM for visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Rosalie at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Valhalla on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at 10:00 AM, Fr. Abraham to officiate. Rosalie will be laid to rest in her family plot alongside her beloved husband John Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne following the funeral mass.
