Sara Pappas Obituary

Sara Anne Pappas (nee Miller) was born on July 17, 1991. Her birth was a great blessing to her family. Her mother, Megan, had been born with a congenital heart condition known as Tetralogy of Fallot. Megan was not supposed to live past childhood, let alone grow to adulthood and have a child.

Sara deeply cherished her relationships with both of her parents. Time with family was precious for her, and she carried this love for family throughout her life.

She loved quality time with her mom. The two of them did art together, swapped clothing and had a similar fashion sense. They had a powerful bond, and even the smallest gestures or mundane seeming moments were priceless. Sara had an equally strong bond with her father, Brian. Thanks to Brian introducing her to technology from early childhood, Sara was way ahead of the curve in learning graphic design, video making, using social media, and cybersecurity, which was their mutual professional field. Both parents instilled strong values in Sara which influenced the person she was.

Sara was exceptionally bright. She had the rare gift of being highly creative, as well as highly adept with technology.

She loved clothing and jewelry and had a keen eye for fashion. She spent time looking for unique earrings and necklaces and would support Etsy sellers. She often said she liked dressing like a video game character. Sara loved video games. She liked to create her own characters and would intentionally go completely outside the plot of the game, creating her own in the process.

Sara loved to laugh. She had a clever, silly, and sophisticated sense of humor which anyone who knew her will remember. She was always on the lookout for internet jokes and memes and would often send humorous messages to family and friends.

Sara loved being outdoors, and had an appreciation for all creatures, great and small. She always said she loved misunderstood creatures, like bugs, snakes, and hermit crabs. She and her husband Anthony had two pet snakes, Luna, and Rose. Together, the four of them were a family and would spend lots of quality time together, doing art, playing music, and watching movies.

Sara and Anthony went hiking together often. They found different nature preserves to hike, and Sara loved butterflies, bats, ladybugs, and garter snakes. She said she aspired to be like ‘Ms. Frizzle’ from the Magic School Bus. The couple shared long conversations about nature, the Bible, art, and world cultures. Sara loved Anthony’s Greek heritage, and Anthony loved Sara’s German heritage.

Sara was a mixed media visual artist and Anthony a musician, and they shared their mutual love of creativity as well as each other’s creative mediums. Sara taught herself sound engineering to ‘mix and master’ Anthony’s music. She painted his album cover as well.

Sara carried with her a dedication for bestowing the love of God on others, as well as a respect for education and learning.

Sara was a great artist, even as a little girl. Her art had a whimsical quality, yet her talent was serious and disciplined. She loved all different colors and had a unique gift for drawing faces.

When Sara was very young her family spent time in Japan. Sara had a lifelong love and affinity for Japanese art and culture. She introduced Anthony to Japanese art, particularly the Studio Ghibli animated films, and they changed his life and opened his heart.

Many of her paintings were themed on Biblical imagery. She was passionate about the Bible, and this shined through in her artwork. The stories and imagery of the Bible came alive in her artwork. Some examples are many variations of Seraph’s, and “Seven Trumpets, Seven Angels.”

She often made art to give away as gifts to others. Gift giving was sacred to her, and she put much consideration into who the person truly was, that she was giving to.

Sara was an encouraging individual. She knew how to listen, and to be uplifting. She was perceptive and had a deep understanding of people.

Sara approached life with gratitude and her life was a gift and an inspiration.

Sara was predeceased by her mother, Megan Miller nee Eckroad. She is survived by her husband Anthony Pappas, her father Brian Miller, grandparents Barbara and Steven Eckroad, Judy and Bill Wright.
