Teddy L. Mathews

Teddy L. Mathews, age 73, died on October 16, 2021, surrounded by family.  Born on December 31, 1947, Teddy lived his younger life in Thornwood / Pleasantville, New York where he attended Westlake High School. For the past 25 years, after retiring from his career with Verizon, Teddy moved to his favorite place in the world, Lake Placid, NY, where he got to live quietly in the woods in the shadow of Whiteface Mountain.  Teddy was never alone, always having a dog he rescued by his side.  Besides his dogs and the mountains, Teddy’s other passions included classic cars, Olympics collectibles, and politics.

Teddy is survived by his ex-wife Angela Mathews, son Christopher Mathews and daughter-in-law Tess Mathews, daughter Lisa d’Erizans and son-in-law Rich d’Erizans, five grandchildren, Thomas, Lauren, Megan, Riley, and Lindsay, and his dog Molly. He will be buried at the North Elba Cemetery in Lake Placid, where on a clear day he’ll always be able to see his beloved Whiteface Mountain.
