Thomas Patrick Stewart passed away on Monday in Poughkeepsie, NY, at the age of 77. A loved brother, uncle, cousin, teacher, and friend, Thomas will be remembered for his love of family and lifelong pursuit of knowledge. He will live on through the legacy of his students at St. Raymond High School for Boys in The Bronx, whom he inspired with his quiet but impactful presence for 37 years.
Born and raised in New York, Thomas was a graduate of All Hallows High School and Iona College and a longtime resident of the Riverdale neighborhood in The Bronx. He found inspiration in books from a young age, developing a love for literature and writing that would shape his future career as an educator. Known among his family and friends for his classic dry sense of humor, Thomas never shied away from telling you exactly how he felt - a disposition that we will all miss.
He spent countless hours in the classroom, challenging and encouraging his students to think critically and creatively, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of learning from him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Saint Raymond’s High School for Boys to the annual Thomas P.
