Valerie (Ragany) Tronto

Valerie Tronto passed away on July 5, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, grace, and devotion to the people and values she held dear.

Born on August 16, 1938, in Gyongyos, Hungary, Valerie carried with her throughout her life the strength, resilience, and a quiet dignity that would come to define her. From her earliest years, she understood the importance of family, kindness, and perseverance, and these qualities remained at the center of everything she did. She emigrated from Hungary on her own to start a new life in the US in 1956, a testament to the strength, courage, and determination so apparent throughout her life.

Valerie was predeceased by her parents, Ilona and Ferenc Ragany, and sisters, Ilona “Ica” Rajnai and Elza Petroczy.

She is survived and blessed by her husband of 65 years, Anthony “Tony” Tronto, daughters Jo Ann (Henry) Tronto-Rodriguez, Sandra (August) Murko, Anita (Jim) Peloso and her four grandchildren, Alexandra (Brandon) Hando, August "AJ" Murko, April Peloso, and Anthony Peloso, who all brought her great joy. She was also blessed with her sister, Izabella “Belus” Benei, and her nieces and nephews, all of whom she held dear.

Valerie was deeply devoted to her family. She and her husband shared many happy years together, and she especially enjoyed entertaining alongside him, where her gracious spirit and thoughtful hospitality shone brightly. Their home was often a gathering place where good company, good food, laughter, and cherished memories were made.

In her quieter moments, Valerie found peace in the simple and beautiful things of life. She loved animals, and found great pleasure in spending time with her dogs, Coco and Misty. She also enjoyed taking long walks, reading, and spending time in nature, where she could reflect and appreciate the world around her. These interests brought her comfort and contentment, and they were a reflection of her thoughtful and appreciative nature. She had a deep love for the beauty of creation and carried that appreciation with her throughout her life.

Valerie’s passing is mourned by all who knew and loved her, and her memory will remain a source of comfort and inspiration. Though she is no longer present in body, the love she gave, the courageous example she set, and the memories she created will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Her life was well-lived, and she will be remembered with affection, respect, and gratitude.

Family and friends are invited to Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne on Monday, July 13, 2026 at 9:30 AM at the Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel for a funeral mass celebrated by Father Christopher Monturo.  Valerie will be laid to rest in her family plot at Gate of Heaven Cemetery following the funeral mass.
