Virginia Fahy Obituary

Virginia Joan (Heubel) Fahy went to her resting place with The Lord on December 29, 2025.

Virginia’s (Gin’s) passing was a peaceful, comfortable one, after a hard-fought battle with cancer, complicated by polymyalgia rheumatica.

But Gin had no room for anger at her fate – she seemed to accept it and do the best she could - an inspiration to the loving family, wonderful friends and dedicated medical professionals who supported her in so many ways through her fight and her life. She never missed an opportunity to let her gratitude be known to each of them.

Virginia was born in The Bronx, NY on June 3,1956 to Joseph Heubel and Gloria (Gioia) Heubel. Sadly, Joe died at 42, leaving Gin and her 3 siblings in Gloria’s loving care.  Gin was no stranger to life’s challenges and the importance of moving forward.

Virginia attended Our Lady of Refuge grammar school, the Academy of Mt. St. Ursula and Lehman College, all in the Bronx, and subsequently graduated from the esteemed Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in Duchess County, NY.  She worked as a chef in private catering and restaurants and later, combining her dietetics credentials, as a food services supervisor for Yonkers public schools for 33 years. All along the way, she made friends to last a lifetime and beyond.

On March 7, 1981 Gin married her high school sweetheart, Gerard (Jerry) Fahy. Alone and together, they brought love and laughter wherever they went. Their two sons, Christopher (1985) and Kevin (1988), brightened their lives and were showered with their parents’ caring, love and affection. Jerry, Chris, Kevin grandchildren Abigail, Connor, and baby Fahy due early 2026 will miss their wife, mother and “dowwa” (grandma) deeply.

Gin is described by her friends and family as endearing, loving, selfless, comforting, embracing, lighthearted, welcoming, caring, dependable, determined, a ball of energy, always there – a strong woman and of course, a great wife, mother, grandma, sister, niece, cousin, friend, chef and baker. She is a gift that will keep on giving – to all of us.

Virginia will be sorely missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her devoted husband Jerry Fahy, sons Chris Fahy (Jen) and Kevin Fahy, grandchildren Abigail Fahy and Connor Fahy, brother Jerry Heubel (Meg), sisters Barbara Heubel and Joan Rehm (Bob), nephews Daniel Heubel (Trish), Thomas Heubel (Tara), Brian Heubel (Madison) and nieces MaryKate Heubel and Lauren Rehm. Virginia is predeceased by her parents (Gloria and Joseph Heubel) and nephews Karl Rehm and Brenden Heubel.
