William C Winters passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 16th, 2023 at Calvary Hospital in The Bronx, NY
William was born on June 10th, 1944 in Manhattan to Casey and Louise (Hartmouth) Winters.
He moved to Elmsford, NY in 1954 where he attended Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School and graduated from Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, NY. He received his Associates Degree from Westchester Community College, Bachelor’s Degree from The University of Bridgeport and Master’s Degree from NYU School of Education
In the 1960’s he pursued his passion of radio, working as a radio engineer at WFAS, WFUV & The WMCA Good Guys
He married the love of his life Carmella (Dolly Saldi) Winters in 1968. They were married for 54 incredible years and had a son William (Bill) Winters II. William was an extraordinary husband and father, always putting his family first and giving them unconditional love.
After his time in radio, he moved on to Westchester Community College where he worked for 44 years. At WCC he was Professor of Mass Media, Radio & TV Announcing and Television Production as well as running the Media Services Department, faculty advisor to the college radio station WARY, and head of the Video Club.
Professor Winters wasn’t just a father to his son Bill, but a father figure to thousands of students at Westchester Community College. He loved the students and helped many of them start their careers through education and the internship program.
William had many passions and hobbies. His love of music and trains knew no bounds amassing a vinyl collection of over 10,000 records as well as a massive model train collection. He was a huge Beach Boys fan with Pet Sounds being his favorite. He loved spending time with family, friends, and even students who became lifelong friends. He also volunteered for The Valhalla Boy Scouts and Kensico Little League.
He leaves behind his wife Carmella (Dolly Saldi) Winters, son William (Bill) Winters II and daughter-in-law Aleksadra Winters. Brother-in-laws John (Donna) Saldi and Nicholas (Kathryn) Saldi. His Nephew John Nicholas (Jolie) Saldi, Nieces Rachel (Steve) Paquette, Diana (Robert) Sinnott and Jenna Saldi, Cousin Vivian (Robert) Cronin and Goddaughter Dawn White.
Family and friends are invited to Pleasant Manor Funeral Home, Inc. 575 Columbus Avenue - Thornwood, New York 10594 on Sunday, May 21, 2023 from 2:00 - 6:00 PM for visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for William at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Valhalla on Monday, May 22, 2023 at 10:00 AM, officiated by Fr. Daniel O'Reilly. William will be laid to rest in his family crypt at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne after the funeral mass.

Professor Bill Winters taught TV, Radio, Mass Media and Communications at Westchester Community College for 44 years. This scholarship will go to an aspiring student in the media business.
